Mystery Hostess!

So maybe you have been seeing my Facebook  links to this blog and you are probably wishing that I would stop but there has been a reason for my madness.  I have been trying to highlight several books so you can have an idea of what Usborne books are and maybe be you might be interested in some of the books.  I have only touched on a few of the books.  There are MANY other books available for all ages of children.

I am having a Mystery Hostess Show.  This will be you chance to maybe win some FREE books and FREE books make great Christmas presents.

Here are the rules:

For every book that you buy you get one chance to be the Mystery Hostess (1 book=1 chance, 2 books=2 chances, etc)

If you agree to host a home show or online show for Usborne books, I will double those chances (1 book=2 chances, 2 books=4 chances, etc)

If you want to make some extra money, you can sign up to become an Usborne Books and More consultant.  If you sign up to become a consultant, I will TRIPLE your chances (1 book=3 chances, 2 books=6 chances, etc)

The minimum amount of free books will be $20.  If I get a good response, there will be chance to for even more free books.

If you have a child, who just doesn't like to pick up a book.  This would be a good book to encourage her to read.  She can start anywhere on the page and once you open one flap you will want to continue opening flaps and before she knows it, she has read a whole page and gained a little information while she was at it.

You might think that Usborne Books are just for little kids.  If you have an older child, you need to get the first book in this series.  Once your child reads the January book, he will want the next book because there is no way that he can read just one book.

A Best Selling Usborne Book

 A hungry mouse came out one night to find some food and encountered an exciting adventure.  He is being chased by a cat, scared by a parrot and scares Mr and Mrs B all before he finds the cheese (or does he get the cheese?)

This is an example of an Usborne slot book.  In this book, there is a "mouse" that follows the dotted line and slips through slots on each page.  You never know where he will turn up on the next page.

According to the website there are many educational benefits of this book.

• Holding the mouse is like holding a pencil. It teaches fine motor skills to little fingers.
• Following the dotted line encourages early writing skills.
• The mouse always moves from left to right, which is important
  to early reading skills.
• The child learns to turn one page at a time. If they turn a few pages at once, the mouse won’t be there.

 In my opinion, this is a must have book for any child.  They will want to read the story over and over again (don't worry moms it isn't a super long story)  This book is only $10.99 and will last for many years.  Also available is A Squirrel's Tale.

More Books for Babies and Toddlers

 Usborne Books and More offers many different books for babies and toddlers.  There are bath books, stroller books, first word books, and lift and look books. These books are sturdy board books (with the exception of the bath and stroller books which are a made of a wipe clean vinyl).  These books will last for many years.  They are books that you can use for one child and then pass on to your next child.

The Usborne Look and Say books have rounded corners and page tabs that can help your child find their favorite scenes.

The Counting Rhymes is such a cute book.  Each page has a different animal to count and a sweet poem for each.  This book is priced at $8.99 and is a book that both boys and girls will enjoy.

First Picture ABC is an example of the first picture board books.  Inside this sturdy board book, you will find 150 familiar words.  You can sit with your child and read the words to him or he can sit and "read" to himself because he will be able to recognize the pictures easily.

When your baby grows older, keep this book handy.  When they start learning how to write, they can use this book to find words for help writing sentences.  I know I did.  When my daughter was in second grade and was having difficulty thinking of sentences to write with her spelling words, I gave her this book and told her use it to find words to use in her sentences.

Usborne Touchy Feely Books

 Babies love to be read to.  We as parents need to read to our babies.  It teaches them about:

• communication
• concepts such as shapes, colors, numbers and letters
• listening
• the world around them

Just one of the types of books that Usborne has to offer for babies are the Touchy-Feely Books. 


The Touchy-Feely Books are wonderful for developing sensory and language awareness.  The That's Not My... series of books have large patches of texture on each double spread page. 

 Each page has a simple sentence stating, "That's not my..." and with an adjective describing why that object is not theirs.  The last page will find the correct object and why it belongs to them.

Each sturdy board book measures 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" which is the perfect size for small hands and fits nicely in a diaper bag.  These books are also priced at $8.99 - $9.99.  They will make a good present for a new mother who needs to start a library for her baby.

 There are over 30 titles available.  Other titles include, That's Not My Dolly,   That's Not My Puppy,  and That's Not Monkey.

So What are Usborne Books?

You might say a book is a book and I can go to any bookstore and get a book for my kids.  Well, Usborne books are more then just a book.  Usborne books are:

I was introduced to Usborne Books and More products in 2006 when I went to a home show hosted by a friend of mine.  I feel instantly in love with the books and hosted my own show.  I was able to take advantage of a generous hostess gift and got A LOT of books for free.  In 2009, my cousin Kathryn Phillips started selling Usborne products.  After a tough year medically, I decided that I wanted to share this amazing products to my friends and I signed up to become an Usborne Books and More Independent Consultant.

I LOVE children's books.  I especially love good quality books that keep my children interested and them wanting more.  I am especially excited that I can share my love of books to others. 


My plan is to share with you what is special about Usborne books over the next few posts.  I hope to highlight individual titles and series so you can get to know more about these books.
